Introduction to Box making

On this two day course you will use a combination of hand and portable power tools to make a solid wood box.

During this two day course you will create rebated and dowelled joints in the production of a solid wood box. You will be guided in the careful marking out, sawing/chiselling technique and use of a router to produce accurate woodwork joints. Our tutor will individually support you to cut create rebates and grooves using a router, both safely and accurately.

At the end of the two days with us you will leave with a hand-made box complete with an oil finish. We will work with home-grown timber that is the hallmark of a Sylva course. You will have the opportunity to visit our 'Future Forest' planted to find out what species will thrive as our climate changes as well as visiting the 'Wood Centre' to see many different micro-businesses from boat building to furniture making.

This course is suitable for both beginners and those who want to develop their woodworking skills further.
